To support the launch, the vehicles tasked with transferring astronauts to the launch area have undergone a comprehensive upgrade. According to CCTV reporter, since the Shenzhou-19 mission, Hongqi vehicles have been used as the official transport for astronauts. For the Shenzhou-21 mission, these vehicles have been further customized and upgraded based on previous models. After six months of tailored design and production, the brand-new transport vehicles officially joined the fleet at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in September this year. Retaining Hongqi’s signature stately and elegant design, these vehicles feature a distinctive license plate bearing the phrase, “Flawless Execution, Complete Success”, instead of a numeric designation. The new transport vehicles feature the following three enhancements. Firstly, the seating capacity has been optimized to 15 seats, including 4 special aviation seats exclusively designed for astronauts. These seats are significantly wider than standard ones, measuring 60 centimeters across, and can be adjusted electrically in six directions. This ensures maximum comfort for astronauts, even when clad in their bulky spacesuits. Secondly, the design fully embodies the sense of ceremony and honor for the astronauts' expedition. Each headrest bears the logo "Chinese Manned Space", while the door pedals feature ambient lighting with the same emblem. Though seemingly small details, they symbolize that our astronauts are about to embark on their journey into the vast expanse of stars. Thirdly, the tires have been equipped with anti-puncture functionality, enhancing safety during transit. The onboard communication system enables smooth communication with the command center. In addition, the vehicles are also equipped with a desk, a mini-fridge, an air purifier, and other amenities, demonstrating meticulous care for the astronauts' physical and mental well-being. Although the distance from Yuanmengyuan Square, where the send-off ceremony takes place, to the launch tower is just 7 kilometers, the procession is escorted by a fleet of Hongqi vehicles and ceremonial motorcycles. Such high-level etiquette reflects the great importance attached to the astronauts and the solemn treatment of the space mission. At the moment when astronauts set off on their mission, we can all sense the remarkable progress of China's space endeavors and the deep-seated pride and confidence that comes with being Chinese. Ralf Brandstätter, Chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, called the moment a significant milestone, describing it as "a symbol of teamwork, trust and the strong partnership between FAW and Volkswagen." The milestone is not only for a single company, but a strong signal for global automakers that as the world's largest auto market, China is an unmissable opportunity for ambitious global players. Founded in 1991, FAW-Volkswagen has grown from producing a single Jetta model under one brand to offering 33 models of fuel-powered and new energy vehicles (NEVs). Its operations now span six plants in five cities, namely Changchun, Chengdu, Foshan, Qingdao and Tianjin. Over 34 years, the company has recorded accumulated revenue exceeding 5.5 trillion yuan (about 776 billion U.S. dollars). FAW and Volkswagen also deepened their collaboration earlier this year, signing an agreement in March to roll out 11 new models tailored for the Chinese market starting in 2026 -- 10 of which will be NEVs. "Our vision is to build a new benchmark for high-quality development and high-level opening up," said Chen Bin, general manager of FAW-Volkswagen, adding that the company plans to launch four new NEVs under the Jetta brand and lift production and sales to the 400,000- to 500,000-unit range within five years. The vehicle-road-cloud integration functional prototype vehicle developed by FAW R&D Institute based on "Hongqi EH7" became the center of attention at the event. Equipped with Hongqi's self-developed V2X coordination warning system, the vehicle successfully passed full-chain tests spanning chip modules, terminals, automakers, and security platforms. It demonstrated exceptional communication stability and data processing capabilities under high-speed and complex operating conditions, enabling efficient and reliable information interaction between the vehicle and roadside equipment. These results thoroughly validated the system's high compatibility and multi-scenario adaptability. During the event, attendees observed live demonstrations of C-AEB (Cooperative Automatic Emergency Braking) and FCTA (Front Cross-Traffic Alert) functions using the Hongqi EH7 as the carrier through live broadcasts. Multiple groups of guests from companies such as Denso, Qualcomm, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Huawei took test rides to experience the "Traffic Light to Vehicle" function, giving high praise to Hongqi's practical achievements in the direction of vehicle-road-cloud integration. In open-road testing, the vehicle-road-cloud integration functional prototype car of Hongqi EH7 successfully completed over 10 rounds of verification in typical scenarios, including red-light running warnings and green-wave speed guidance. The system demonstrated precise and stable performance in receiving roadside information and triggering scenario-based applications. During closed-site testing, the vehicle, equipped with its self-developed C-AEB function, successfully demonstrated a forward collision cut-out scenario in accordance with the CNCAP 2024 standards. Leveraging V2X technology for beyond-line-of-sight perception, the system could identify risks and apply precise braking in advance, even under extreme conditions where the view was completely obstructed by intervening vehicles, significantly enhancing driving safety in complex traffic environments. This event not only comprehensively evaluated the technical maturity of Hongqi vehicle-road-cloud system in real-world scenarios but also highlighted Hongqi R&D's profound expertise in the fields of intelligent connected vehicles and active safety. It further solidified Hongqi's pioneering position in the large-scale application of C-V2X and industry-wide collaborative development, laying a solid technical foundation for future smart mobility.
